Deformation modes in eight image clusters

Map eight image clusters to four named deformation mechanisms and three developing states, with unrecovered reference modes identified.

An original crosswalk of reported category relationships. Small motifs are mnemonic labels, not recovered meshes or stress and strain fields. This is one of two portfolio perspectives on the same paper.

Cluster-to-mode mapping

The manuscript interprets C0 as V, C1 as X, C2 as V + Z + V, and C3 and C4 as distorted X. C5, C6 and C7 contain developing plastic hinges without mature mode assignments.

Three distinct counts

Eight image clusters include five mode-associated clusters, which represent four distinct detected modes. The y and horizontal V modes are not detected. Image clusters and mechanical categories therefore have different denominators.

A quantitative atlas

Comparing mechanical fields would require source meshes, shared geometry and field scales, physical units, and load or time indices. This crosswalk encodes category relationships only.
